Principius founder, Mick Stanic, will be speaking on the topic of podcasting during the D>Art.05 Forum to be held at the Museum of Sydney on Friday the 12th of August.
This years D>Art Forum is titled "Distributed Art - Excavation, Ecology and Evolution", and is part of Australia's premiere annual digital art events, D>Art.05, which is hosted by the Sydney based dLux media/arts organisation.
Mick will be present for 20 minutes on the topic of "Podcasting Models" and will then join a panel comprising of; Adriaan Stellingwerff (Program Manager, dLux media arts), Dr. Silvia Pfieffer (Head of Networked Media Systems, CSIRO ICT Centre) and Dr Melinda Rackham (Director Australian Network for Art and Technology and Web Artist) as they wrap up the days discussion by talking about the "Evolution" of distributed media and art.
"It's wonderful to be invited to present at an event with such an amazing group of people, in such an amazing location and about the intersection of two interesting topics." said Stanic. "Distributed networks and media is something I have been involved with for a long time. From my most recent work as Co-Founder of The Podcast Network, right back to the mid 80's when I was a part of the amazing BBS scene that was flourishing at the time. While i have had some cross-over with the arts community over the years, the merging of technology and art is something that is really appealing to me at the moment."
Other speakers include; David Cranswick (Director, dLux media arts), Dr Mari Velonaki (President, dLux media arts), Dr Anna Cicognani (Telstra BigPond and dLux media arts board member), Dr Norie Neumark (Associate Professor in New Media Arts and Production, University of Technology, Sydney), Annmarie Chandler (Course Director in Emerging Field in New Media and Digital Culture, University of Technology Sydney), Jennifer Wilson (Head of HWW Mobile), Robert Hutchinson (Head of New Media & Digital Services Interface stream, ABC), Claudia Sagripanti (Chairperson, AIMIA Mobile Content Industry Group), Professor Brian Fitzgerald (Head, School of Law at QUT in Brisbane, Australia; Project Leader for Creative Commons in Australia) and Carolyn Lidgerwood (senior lawyer at Gilbert & Tobin).
Mick goes on to say, "I am looking forward to furthering my own relationship and the involvement of Principius with not only dLux media/arts and the wider Australian arts community, but also with the other speakers after this event. I think the chance to push the boundaries of technology in an area such as the arts is one that can't be missed...stay tuned for what i am sure will be some interesting projects in the next six to twelve months from Principius." |
